Somewhere, Tyra Banks is barking to Oprah, “Anything you can do, I can do better!” in between glasses of Stoli Blueberry and Oprah rolling her eyes. Oprah recently announced her landmark talk show would be ending in 2011, and Banks has now come on the record saying that her talk show will be ending too. But in 2010. Because, you see, Tyra’s risky and fierce and has places to be.
Banks–well-known, but not exclusively for Life-Size, a telefilm in which she starred alongside Lindsay Lohan–told People, “This will be the last season of The Tyra Show. I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.” Dear God, could you imagine: Tyra Banks coming into your living room, donning a fat suit and shilling petroleum jelly! Next, Banks will focus on realizing films through her own production company. Films that bring “positive images of women to the big screen.”
But what about ferocity? Don’t worry Tyra has plans a ton of that too: “My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are.” Down to every last featured celebrity, Banks never deviated from her Oprah-sized dreams. If Oprah was going to book a blockbuster Bollywood star, dammit so would Tyra. Alas, this truly is the end of an era. Tyra, we will not forget. For a few weeks anyway.
