Tonight’s Diversion: The Only (SFW) ‘Game of Thrones’ Supercut You Will Ever Need

With the end of Season 2 last night, HBO’s hit twincest-and-swords epic Game of Thrones hit its ratings record as 4.2 million viewers (or, all the people not tweeting excessively about Mad Men last night) clicked in to watch what befell the houses of Westeros after the Battle of the Blackwater. As the episode faded out to the words of George R.R. Martin and the music of The National performing “The Rains of Castamere,” many loose ends were left to make way for season three. For fans, a year of anticipation probably already sounds pretty dreadful.

In the meantime, however, aspiring Lannisters, Baratheons and Starks can click through the insane amounts of Game of Thrones supercuts that exist in out in the vast expanse that is YouTube. There’s an edit for everything, and then there is “Names of Thrones,” an impressive (though somewhat exhausting to watch) edit of every time any character mentions one of the warring houses from the books. This could easily replace the Roxanne Drinking Game as a pre-gaming activity of choice for college kids. Everybody, pick a house! (Whoever gets House Stark may not make it to the bar, though.)

Next up, one with all the nudity, fighting, use of the word “bastard” and one with all the instances in which Daenerys is called “Khaleesi.” Goodnight, everybody!
