Even when Robb Stark’s campaign for the throne is going poorly, as a whole, the Starks are still probably the most likable family on Game of Thrones. They’re family-oriented, fiercely loyal and, at times, endearingly sassy. Of all the Starks though, badass youngest daughter Arya (Maisie Williams) is undoubtedly the coolest Stark, and a general fan favorite in both her book and TV series incarnations, even at her most bloodthirsty.
And now, after years of Twilight-inspired names like Bella and Jacob dominating the Social Security Administration’s list of the most popular baby names, it seems that a lot of Game of Thrones fans are having children right now or something, as Arya is the fastest-rising baby name for girls, jumping from 711th to 413th most popular in the list in a year. Arya is also the name of a main character from the popular cult TV series Pretty Little Liars, and just a generally lovely name and perhaps this is just an alternate spelling of “Aria” to be trendy or something, but we can pretend this is all because of George R.R. Martin. We’ll know for sure based on how many of these babies’ first words are “Valar Morghulis.” Or if there are a lot more hired assassins being commissioned by children. Yikes.
