LA’s Celebrity Fave Sushi Temple Sugarfish Opens in NYC

New York may have some of the best sushi restaurants in the known universe – but when it comes to pairing yellowtail and blue crab rolls with celebrity wattage, nowhere do they do it like LA.

To wit, Kazunori Nozawa’s Sugarfish, which boasts ten endlessly buzzy locations in LALA Land.

But this month mark’s the long hoped for opening of the first NYC Sugarfish, in the restaurant heavy Flatiron (East 20th, to be precise). The exalted but approachable menu will actually be available for takeout; but with a West Coast celeb clientele that includes the likes of Taylor Swift, Seth Macfarlane, Kylie Jenner and Kate Hudson, you’ll really want to secure a table and arrive in full star-spotting mode. For extra incentive, the zen-chic dining room, with its warm woods and exposed brick, is singularly seductive.

As for the sushi, you won’t go wrong with the $39 Trust Me menu or, for those counting calories, the Trust Me Lite menu at $27. But we highly recommend going with the $51 Nozawa Trust Me, which includes a daily special – and foodie bragging rights.
