The 5 Must-See Comic-Con 2015 Panels That You Don’t Have to Be a Geek to Love

Comic-Con 2015 opens its annual five-day extravaganza bringing tried-and-true comic book nerds and pop culture fanatics alike to San Diego to get their franchise fix. Non-DC and Marvel fanatics are all too quick to turn their nose up at Comic-Con, but plenty, if not the majority, of the panels at the convention appeal to the mainstream movie goer. Here are five must-know Comic-Con 2015 panels for the pop culture consumer in you.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens

J.J. Abrams’ latest will be the focus of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel on Friday July 10. The panel won’t include a new trailer or clip of the installment, out December 18, but it will offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse at its making, which was so secretive that press wasn’t allowed into production. Star Wars is the holy grail of geekdom, so this panel — and all its mystery (which cast members will be joining Abrams on stage?) — is a golden ticket.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

The only thing nerdier than sci-fi fan fiction is Jane Austen fan fiction. Combine the two and voilà, you have Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith that is (finally) getting made into a movie. Saturday’s panel will bring out cast members, including Lily James, Bella Heathcote, Jack Huston, and Matt Smith, to unveil a first glimpse of the film, out in February 2016.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

At Warner Bros.’ presentation on Saturday, the star-studded cast of Batman v Superman — Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter — will join director Zack Snyder for a special glimpse of the DC film.

Game of Thrones

Say Game of Thrones in a crowded room and you’ll spark up conversation with anyone in a one-foot radius of your face. The Friday panel, moderated by Seth Meyers, features cast members Alfie Allen, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Natalie Dormer, among others to answer any and all questions about Season 5.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

In true cult movie franchise style, the final book of The Hunger Games is split in two, with the last installment coming out in November. The cast will join the filmmaker at the Thursday panel for a Q&A, plus a sneak peak of the film. For mega fans, Lionsgate just released hardcore character portrait posters which will be available at the company’s booth.
