BlackBook Premiere: Battleme’s ‘Habitual Love Songs’

Portland by way of Austin indie sensation Battleme (the musical alter ego of Matt Drenik) has survived a deadly autoimmune disease, torn up SXSW stages, and written no small number of wicked tracks to soundtrack FX’s less than lovey dovey hit show Sons of Anarchy. Esquire even described one Battleme song as, “If The Flaming Lips had written an original song for Dark Side of the Moon.”

So it’s surprise, new album Habitual Love Songs is full of sexually charged, slithery, Stones-like blues rockers. Billboard even compared first single, “Shake Shake,” to Queens of the Stone Age. Here we offer the first listen to the entire album, prior to its release:
