The Prada Linea Rossa Fall/Winter ’21 Collection Wants Us to Go ‘Beyond The Line’

For those who tended to lead active lives, more than a year of on and off quarantines and lockdowns was certainly stifling. But with the vaccines doing their work, it’s a good time to step back, appreciate that we have survived this terrible pandemic…and get back to being our active selves again.

When we do, we definitely know what we’ll be wearing, as the new Prada Linea Rossa (it translates to “red line,” naturally – a signature Prada design element) Fall/Winter 2021 collection has the sleek, ready-for-speed look that we believe should characterize a season of breaking out and at last again propelling forward. We want to be thrilled and thrilling!

Of course, Prada is always ready with a more philosophical explication – and of the new collection the house elucidates:

“Both metaphorical and physical, literal and symbolic, the Linea Rossa represents the point of achievement, a personal best. What we strive not only to reach, but to exceed. Prada Linea Rossa has always been innately tuned to the demands of high-performance sporting endeavour, translated to daily life.”

For the accompanying Beyond The Line campaign, they enlisted French photographer Hugo Comte, who has shot the likes of Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid, and whose first career monograph The Book just hit the shelves this past February. And here, his images are buzzing with electricity and energy, with models bedecked in Linea Rossa indeed going beyond the line in every possible way. The line, cleverly, is in the aforementioned signature Prada red, and it seems to just be daring to be crossed.

A one minute film, also by Comte, shows the models straddling it, bending over it, and even dangling from it – but whatever it is, we want to be doing it too. And be looking that good doing it.
