Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2021 Campaign Film is the Gorgeous Travelogue We Need Right Now
As the COVID vaccination programs proved to be successful this spring, we exuberantly – but admittedly also cautiously – took back to the skies, to resume our regular and enthusiastic reportage on destinations from Tucson to Budapest and beyond. Yet this thing called the Delta Variant seems determined to once again shut us down.
But for those still a bit anxious and jittery about getting on a flight right now, Louis Vuitton has gone and done the work for us, virtually zipping us off to three exceedingly beautiful destinations, via their gorgeous Fall-Winter 2021 campaign film. For it, they transported a team of very fortunate models off to Petra, Jordan, the Greek Island of Milos, and the sacred site of Mont Saint Michel in France’s Normandy region. The results are nothing short of breathtaking, especially the exquisite shots of receding shorelines and vast amounts of deep blue sea.
Nicolas Ghesquière’s Classical Rome inspired collection, first presented this past March at the Musee du Louvre in Paris, was actually a collaboration with Italian artist Piero Fornasetti. Of it, the designer enthuses, “I wanted to use the pieces to evoke the continuing modernity of Fornasetti’s artistic world.”
The film is fittingly soundtracked by Daft Punk ‘Around The World’ which, back when it was released in (gasp) 1997, perfectly encapsulated that new sense of coming-of-the-millennium optimism and internationalism. And we must admit, we do really miss those decidedly less complicated times.
