Images: Hedi Slimane Shoot Syncs w/ MR PORTER Celine Homme Pop-Up

During these grey, drab (not to mention deadly) months of global quarantine, we’ve at least been encouraged by a wave of inventive creativity in the face of such a monumental crisis. But one thing we’ve really missed is the extravagant artfulness of fashion campaigns both high and low, that we had pretty much come to expect would happen with each new season. COVID certainly put a halt to most of that.

It has been trickling back a bit, with Ferragamo getting crazy joyful with their new holiday presentation, and Miu Miu tapping Chloë Sevigny and Kim Basinger for their absolutely gorgeous recent ‘Icons’ campaign. But were were especially chuffed to see one Hedi Slimane emerge from lockdown to debut and shoot the new Celine Homme S/S 2021 collection, in sync with MR PORTER’s exclusive Celine Homme pop-up.

The collection itself is titled “The Dancing Kid,” inspired by the emerging Eboys subculture, celebrating the wave of sartorial creativity that has grown out of isolation. Slimane invited six artists to participate in the campaign, and there is a distinct frisson of the youthful and new in the resulting images.

Of the 48 pieces in total in the collection (black mirrored joggers, acid-washed denim trucker jackets, black and white Baja knit ponchos), 30 are exclusive to the MR PORTER pop-up, and can be viewed/purchased at MRPORTER.COM.
