More Celebs Go Without Retouching (And Clothes)
In just a few months the trend of celebrities or top models going un-retouched in major magazines has gone from novelty to omnipresent. French, Australian and American magazines have hopped on board the bandwagon, championing the idea that going au natural is in fact more enticing than heavily photoshopped mannequins. Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears were the latest celebs to follow suit, in Marie Claire and Candie’s latest ad campaign, respectively. But now Amanda de Cadenet, Joy Bryant and Kim Kardashian are doing so too.
The photographer, actress and reality TV star, respectively, all appear not only un-retouched in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar but nude. Crystal Renn, the plus-size model who has become a go-to poster woman for the softer figure movement, also pops up in an all new editorial this month. Renn bares more than just NSFW flesh in the latest edition of French Vogue (read: as The Cut puts it Renn’s plentiful pubic hair calls to mind “a metaphor for the return to curves as a return to nature”). So, now not only does high fashion approve of women letting go a little bit with regard to regimented workouts, but they can do so with below the waist hair maintenance as well.
