Mischa Barton Launches Headband Line
The trend of celebrities moonlighting as fashion designers is nothing new. And in recent months a handful of twenty-something, tabloid favorites have joined the roster: Nicole Richie debuted a jewelry line that’s surprisingly cute and affordable; while Lindsay Lohan’s leggings made an even bigger (and, in some cases, salacious) splash. Now Mischa Barton is getting in on the crossover game with a headband line and handbag collection.
The latter, a collection for Brit brand Ri2k, has been stocked on shelves in both Australia and England for the last three seasons. But her Axl Rose-esque headgear collection for Stacey Lapidus, which includes “six pieces…decorated with pearls, beads, crystals, sequins and flowers,” is brand new, premiering just in time for Christmas, says WWD. “One standout is a silk, crystal and pearl upside-down tiara intended to be worn on the forehead,” adds WWD. While Blair Waldorf is without a doubt partially to thank for headbands’ recent resurgence, Barton’s own line is directly derivative of another NYC socialite: sometimes law-breaking Arden Wohl, who’s been sporting headbands, necklaces and the like around her forehead for years.
