Remember when Donatella Versace notoriously declared that she’d never do an H&M diffusion line? Well, the Versace creative director has had a change of heart, and Lady Gaga’s Versace-strewn “Edgy of Glory” video might’ve had something to do with it. Today, Donatella announced that the Italian fashion house will become the Swedish fast-fashion retailer’s latest guest designer. Start dusting off your lawn chairs and sleeping bags now, people.
“For me, this is an opportunity to show a very, very big audience what Versace has been and what it is now,” she explains in the below announcement video. The collaboration will include iconic Versace pieces from iconic Versace moments, as well as inspiration from present collections, like the above gold-studded black leather dress that Donatella wore yesterday to present the Versace men’s SS12 collection in Milan. The Versace for H&M collection will include 40 pieces for women, 20 pieces for men, and housewares.
If the Lanvin for H&M madness is any indication of what the lines will be like for this debut, then we might start camping out in front of H&M now.
