Fashion’s Latest Obsession: SingStar

Fashion people like to sing. Want proof? Just look at models Karen Elson, Carla Bruni, and Irina Lazareanu, who have all followed up fame in the fashion industry with singing careers. Now it seems the urge—at least in the form of karaoke—is taking hold of an even wider cast of trendsetters. SingStar, the competitive music video game series for PlayStation, is fast becoming a favorite pastime of some pretty heavy-hitting fashion folk. “I had a SingStar party in Paris last month,” photoblogger Tommy Ton, whose glossy images have landed him ad and editorial work as well as status within the industry, recently told Dazed Digital. And he’s not the only one. At a SingStar party he recently held—at which designer Rad Hourani was in attendance—Ton admits things got a little out of control: “The police came twice or three times. We were singing Lady Gaga and Lionel Ritchie at the top of our lungs in the heart of the Marais, so you can imagine…”

Also a fan of the game: Agyness Deyn. “She does, like, the Cure. And ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.'” Put simply, Ton is obsessed: “I’ve never really used my internet fame, but I figure I might as well now. So I’ll put this out there: I would totally be the international spokesperson for SingStar.”
