A Solution to The Fur Debate

To wear fur or not to wear fur, a serious fashion question. Recently, Louis Vuitton used the controversial fabric as heel embellishment in its pre-fall collection, while anti-fur crusaders PETA put Michelle Obama on an ad reading “Fur-Free and Fabulous” without her permission. (The ads, which also pictured Tyra, Oprah and Carrie Underwood, have since been removed). Slate asked whether fake or real fur was more harmful to the environment and, Nylon‘s Faran Krentcil asked which was worse, fur or fast fashion, over at the Huffington Post.

As far as I’m concerned, when it comes to fur there is an easy answer: avoid it altogether and embrace Slow and Steady Wins the Race‘s adorable non-fur animal stoles instead. I recently came across these fantastic fur alternatives (which are being stocked at Opening Ceremony, StandUp Comedy and Creatures of Comfort). Not only do they come in a natural shade, black velvet and animal print, they’ll also never get you splattered in paint or heckled (especially come fashion week in February).
