Etro Launches Androgynous Silk Capsule Collection w/ Harris Reed

Why bother denying it? We, and so many of our most fashionable friends, had practically given up – and spent months showing up on work or personal Zoom calls in the same slightly-too-comfortable sweats, those that had become our decidedly unfashionable companions during those long months of quarantine.

But however unsure we are about how or when “full normal” will return to our lives, it is most definitely time to dress up again. And something we can now admit we really missed while we were convincing ourselves of the virtues of fleece, was the feeling of a truly exquisite fabric against our skin. And who better to reintroduce us to that feeling than the deft cultivators of rarefied textiles over at Etro?

To that end, the inimitable Milan fashion house has just introduced a new capsule collection in partnership with Harris Reed, the super hot young Brit-American fashion designer, who has already dressed the likes of Harry Styles, Solange, and Cara Delevinge, and was also responsible for Iman’s stunning 2021 Met Gala dress. At just 25 years of age, he was recently named the GQ “Breakthrough Designer” of 2021, for their annual “Men of the Year” issue.

For the new collab Reed conjured striking, androgynous blouses in vintage, billowy silk. Reimagining the classic Etro paisley, he went full bohemian, evoking the aesthetic of late ’60s / early ’70s rock stars like George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix and The Stones’ Brian Jones – and recalling the Chelsea boutiques featured in the London Fashion & Textile Museum’s current Beautiful People exhibition.

“When Harris Reed reached out to collaborate with us on this special project, I did not have doubts,” enthuses Etro Womenswear Creative Director Veronica Etro. “He is a young and talented designer that conveys wonderful messages with his work and I was happy to have the chance to mix our textile research with his innovative approach and taste. Moreover, I love the idea of giving a new life to archival fabrics by transforming them into exclusive ‘one-of-a-kind’ creations.”

For his part, Reed was thrilled to apply his notions of gender fluid design to a heritage luxury fashion brand, whilst also drawing attention to the virtues of upcycling.

“My signature Pussy Bow Blouses were truly brought to life through Etro’s archival fabrics,” he observes, “and I am extraordinarily excited for people to see these pieces. I hope this brings a new way of looking at luxury fashion.”

The limited run capsule collection is available now exclusively on and on
