Christian Louboutin Collabs w/ Idris Elba on Ideological New Shoe Collection

Though we’re still terribly disappointed that we won’t be seeing him as 007, otherwise we’re pretty sure there’s absolutely nothing Idris Elba can’t do (he’ll probably somehow even beat Jeff Bezos to space.)

Of course, one of the things he is really, really good at is pretty much always looking better than everyone around him. And so we would obviously trust him with whatever assistance he was willing to offer in trying to make us look just as good – for instance, his cool DJ-inspired fashion line 2HR SET, which launched in 2019. Now he’s taking it a bit upmarket, and adding in an important cause, via his new collab with Christian Louboutin, fittingly called Walk A Mile in My Shoes.

Together with Idris’ life/business partner model/activist Sabrina Dhowre Elba (she was appointed a United Nations’ Goodwill Ambassador for IFAD in April of 2020), they set out to create a collection of shoes that has ideology, and heart, woven right into them. To wit, a recurring motif is the Strelitzia reginae plant – also known as the Bird of Paradise, or Mandela’s Gold – which has become a symbol of hope and freedom, much as the dove symbolizes peace. The words “Walk A Mile in My Shoes” also appear in signature, fiery Louboutin red.

Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the shoes will go to support several grassroots organizations around the world, those whose stated mission is about supporting and elevating communities of color, from orphaned children in Sierra Leone, to underserved youth in England. And following sixteen months of a deadly pandemic that hit underprivileged communities particularly hard, it is nothing less than an exigent undertaking.

Idris for President…obviously.
