Chanel Goes Ski Chalet Chic For Fall/Winter 2021 RTW Campaign

With week after week of record high temperatures all across the globe, and the Northeastern autumn now being a thing we merely remember with fondness, we find ourselves greatly pining for a few swishes down the slopes, followed by double-shot hot toddies by a particularly cozy fireplace. But with the Delta Variant decisively bearing down, we can’t even really be sure what the 2021/2022 ski season is going to hold now, can we? (Spending some time in Aspen, and especially a spot of Chamonix would be very nice, thank you).
But thoughtfully, for its Fall/Winter 2021 Ready-To-Wear collection campaign, Chanel has gone ahead and whisked us away for a bit of oohing and ahing at snowy Alpine vistas, in the considerable company of models Louise de Chevigny, Mica Argañaraz, Vivienne Rohner and Rianne van Rompaey. Breathtakingly shot by superstar Dutch fashion photogs Inez & Vinoodh, it’s ski chalet chic at its absolute most evocative and fabulous.
An accompanying film, also the handiwork of I&V, truly has us longing to be amidst the majesty of the Alps, where we have in the past done some of our most profound contemplations about the meaning of existence (and always with a good cognac in hand.)
As for the beautiful collection itself, Creative Director Virginie Viard exquisitely teases classic Chanel stylistic signifiers, with subtly logo-embroidered jeans, elegant knitwear, logo-adorned quilted jumpsuits, handbags and boots, as well as faux furry boots and rockstar-ish faux fur jackets. Of course, we’d have to see the temps drop by about 45 degrees Fahrenheit for these clothes to be even vaguely climatologically correct; but it’s something to very much look forward to as we perspire our way through the last vestiges of this dreadful Summer of Swelter.
