How to Get Chanel FW14 Printed Nails

Sitting down with celeb nail artist and Paintbox creative director Julie Kandalec is a dream; she’s a treasure trove of nail art ideas. We asked her to come up with mani how-tos inspired by some of our favorite runway looks. (See the first here.)

This manicure is inspired by Chanel FW14 — specifically the geometric print that graced more than a few looks at the show. Here’s a detail:

Pick three bright colors, and after base coat, paint two coats onto each nail, alternating colors. Let dry.

Pick an extra bright color for details. Using a detail brush, use alternating colors to paint a large circle or square on each nail (two coats)– the shapes can be off center and run off the edge of the nail. Clean the brush between colors.

With a clean detail brush, paint a small rectangle on some of the nails, again alternating colors. With a pencil eraser, dot polish on the others. Let it dry well before painting on a top coat.
