Renée Zellweger to Play Judy Garland in New Biopic

Renée Zellweger is going to play Judy Garland in an upcoming biopic, E! News reports.

The film titled Judy will focus on Garland’s final years of performance in London, set in 1968 – three decades after The Wizard of Oz, she prepares for her sold-out show The Talk of the Town. It will take audiences behind the scenes, as the legendary performer fights with her agents and managers, deals with depression, and thinks about being away from her children. It will also explore her relationship with musician Mickey Deans, whom she’d go on to marry.

E! reports that the movie “will feature some of Garland’s most popular songs” – so, yes, it’s safe to say we might get a Zellweger rendition of “Over The Rainbow.” And if we’re really lucky, maybe we’ll even hear a new take on “Happy Days Are Here Again / Get Happy.”

Here’s a peek…
