Watch the Video for Hot Chip’s New Single, ‘Flutes’
It’s been a few years since Hot Chip last released an album, making it time for a new one and a new single: "Flutes," which the band released today to promote the June-dropping In Our Heads. Based around a flute sample (what else?), it’s lovely in that tender Hot Chip way. They gave an illuminating interview to Pitchfork discussing the album’s scope and sound, which you should check out. "I like those moments in a club when people have been playing techno records for half an hour, and they drop a big Balearic record that brings everyone into that joyful moment," said the band’s Joe Goddard. "We were thinking a lot about those ecstatic moments." "Flutes" is almost eight minutes long, in a related note.
Those eight minutes makes the video a little hard to swallow, considering how much of it is spent spinning and spinning around the studio. You may get dizzy, but give it a shot. "With In Our Heads, an unadultered delight of an album bursting with dynamic floor fillers, euphoric earworms and verbose synth-fuelled love songs, Hot Chip cement their position as the world’s most talented electro-romantics," says the press release. Sounds pretty good. In Our Heads is out on June 11, just in time for the summer.
