Gwyneth Paltrow Covers Adele’s ‘Turning Tables’

Professional white lady Gwyneth Paltrow will be covering Adele‘s “Turning Tables,” from the English singer’s latest album, 21, on tomorrow night’s episode of Glee. Whose idea was this? Why is Gwyneth Paltrow suddenly singing everywhere all the time?

The thing to remember is that Gwyneth Paltrow is not a singer. (Nor is she really an actress, but that’s another story.) Anyway, Adele is a singer — a very, very good one — and it just hurts to hear a song of hers in the hands of a lesser artist. It’s not that Gwynnie butchers it, it’s just that it’s kind of unfortunate that she had to inject so much Country Strong-style twang into a song that doesn’t call for it. At least she didn’t sing in ebonics, like she’s wont to do.
