Grimes Recruits Cowboys, KISS Makeup for Dreamy ‘California’ Music Video (Watch)

We’d give anything to slip into the whimsical world of Grimes’ Art Angels LP—a fantasy first visualized with the singer’s stylized “Flesh without Blood/Life in the Vivid Dream” video back in October. Today, Stella McCartney’s favorite face posted a teaser clip on her Instagram, previewing the treatment for her next single, “California,” and it’s appropriately packed tight with beautifully bizarre features.

Starring classic cowboys to a Renaissance woman in KISS-style face paint, the video looks like a dramatized reflection of Cali culture, as seen through Grimes’ signature pixie-pop lens. The third visual off her 2015 sophomore effort, “California” follows “Kill V. Maim,” and is slated for release Monday, May 9 at 10 a.m. EST. Watch, below:
