Clive Davis Comes Out as Bisexual, Details Friendship With Whitney Houston in Memoir
Record executive Clive Davis is probably best-known as the man who signed Whitney Houston to Arista when the singer was just 19. The current chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment details his friendship with Houston in his memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, which hit bookshelves and Kindles today. Included is a 2001 letter to Houston, in which Davis pleads with the singer to examine her choices and her relationships with friends and family at the height of her drug use. More surprisingly, the executive opens up about his rumored relationships with men, with whom he began experimenting sexually after an encounter with a fan at Studio 54. Davis also reveals that he’s been in a relationship with a man for the past seven years, but insists that he identifies as bisexual rather than gay. Kind of a ballsy move, but then again he can pretty much destroy the careers of a few thousand people so what does he have to worry about?
