The New Tate Modern Collaborates With Sigur Ros For Interactive Video Experience

In celebration of the new Tate Modern extension opening June 17th, Orri and Georg from Sigur Ros have collaborated with the museum to create an imaginative journey that explores the new space.

The full interactive experience, titled “States of Matter,” features a specially composed soundtrack by Orri Páll Dýrason and Georg Hólm (from Sigur Ròs) paired with visuals inspired by materials of the new building and old Bankside power station.  There are four total interactive expeditions throughout the new building that examine plasma, air, solid and liquid states of matter, each corresponding to a specific audio stem.

“With ‘States of Matter’ we wanted to explore more experimental and textural options,” Orri and Georg said. “Splitting the track means that each stem had to have its own subtleties, its own identity while being part of a cohesive piece.”

The full “States of Matter” interactive experience can be accessed, here.
