Jason Segel Has Penned Some Young Adult Novels
You’d have to be pretty insane and heartless not to love Jason Segel. The lovable and giant man who we fell in love with back on Freaks and Geeks and has since been making us feel all fuzzy with laughter has not only written Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Five-Year Engagement, and The Muppets, but of course, he’s also written some YA fiction.
Yes, it was revealed during a Q&A with Jonathan Demme at a Sarah Marshall screening, that the actor, writer, piano man, and oft puppeteer, has written three young adult novels. Apparently, the series of novels are based on a script that he wrote at age 21 and sold for "super cheap" until eight years later when he bought it back for the same price. Apparently, the books are about, "kids facing their biggest fears," and that’s all he would reveal. However, Demme did mention that there is currently a "bidding war" going on between publishing houses for the works. As a full Segel supporter, I would gladly buy those novels and/or enjoy a film adaptation. Here’s to hopping we hear and see more about this in the future. In the meantime, let’s watch some adorably funny videos of Jason Segel.
