George Clooney Is Single, for Real This Time

A little over a year ago, I made the tragic mistake of believing reputed truth-teller Showbiz Spy that George Clooney had dumped his Italian companion Elisabetta Canalis. Under a spell of blind faith, I proceeded to play a fun game called Who Should George Clooney Date Next? The whole thing turned out to be an embarrassing miss — Clooney wasn’t giving Canalis the boot at all. He said so himself. But now the day has come for Mr. Clooney to finally change his relationship status.

In a joint statement to E! News, Georgeabetta said, “We are not together anymore. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.” Consider it done, guys (this post not included). Before I go, a little advice for both of them. Bury yourselves in your work. For George Clooney, that means promotional duties on two major projects: Alexander Payne’s The Descendants (trailer here), and Clooney’s third directorial effort, Ides of March, which will be opening the Venice Film Festival. For Elisabetta Canalis, that means taking more photos like these.
