BLACKBOOK PREMIERE: New Salt Cathedral Single/Video ‘PARIS’ is a Dreamy, Romantic Travelogue

It’s surely happened to nearly all of us. A relationship is on the rocks, and a romantic getaway comes to the rescue. Of course, no place can reignite passions like Paris.

And so on the new Salt Cathedral single “PARIS,” ethereal vocalist Juli makes a fervent plea for a lover to join her in the City of Light: “Will you come with me to Paris? / I need you to give us just one more chance.” Her sultry but earnest delivery makes her request nearly impossible to resist.

“It’s a display of a love relationship’s push and pull,” she explains, “the ‘let’s give this another chance…you always hurt me, but maybe Paris will make things better’ kind of uncertainty that comes with a breakup.”

It also sees the NYC-by-way-of-Colombia duo experimenting with new rhythmic structures, with reggaeton, afrobeat and Brazilian beats coming together in surprising ways. As well, musical partner Nico contributes vocals for the first time.

“We’re really trying to push the boundaries and sound of our music,” says Juli. “It’s a really special song for us, written and produced by me and Nico. ”

The accompanying video switches back and forth between an airport and a boxing ring…metaphorically, obviously.

(N.B. – The new Salt Cathedral album will be released this spring via Ultra.)
