This Week’s L.A. Happenings: Holy Fuck, Allumette, and Celebrity Chimp

TONIGHT: Holy Fuck!
Free Alt-Comedy Show at Downtown Independent Theater
Holy Fuck, the weekly alt-comedy show at the Downtown Independent Theater, hosts the second recording session for its upcoming comedy album Tuesday night, when a dozen of the city’s hungriest talents put their rants, raves, and dick jokes on wax. Buy a few cheap beers in the lobby, sink into your seat, and watch performers from Brandie Posey to Dave Ross make their bid for comedic immortality. Best of all, it’s totally fucking free.
DETAILS: Holy Fuck begins at 9:30 pm every Tuesday at the Downtown Independent Theater (251 S. Main St, Downtown.) For details, check out the website.

NOW: Allumette Opens in Echo Park
Let your soul glow at Echo Park’s Allumette, a neo-soul food restaurant helmed by chef Miles Thompson in the former Allston Yacht Club space. Thompson, who made his name with the Vagrancy Project pop-up series, plans to get lovers in the mood with a sensual menu featuring such dishes as red kuri squash, carrot, and broccoli seasoned with a French curry blend. Food has never been pornier.
Allumette (1320 Echo Park Ave.) opens on January 22. Check the BlackBook listing for the inside info.

SATURDAY: Celebrity Trash
Swing by LAB ART Gallery Saturday night for the trashiest art show you’ll ever see. Street artist XVALA, who’s made a career out of repurposing celebrity garbage, presents “Tonight Show with Celebrity Chimp,” featuring the detritus of Taylor Swift, Lindsay Lohan, and Robert Downey Jr. Don’t expect used condoms and empty Vicodin bottles—it’s a series of paintings imbued with reflecting powder from broken glass. How subversive.
“Tonight Show with Celebrity Chimp” will debut at LAB ART (217 S. La Brea Ave., Mid-City West) on January 26 from 7-10 pm. See the website for details.
