Japan Fashion Week: Back to Nature @ Everlasting Sprout

The designers behind Everlasting Sprout must take their name in all earnestness. At their show during Japan Fashion Week, a maze-like set called to mind a back-to-nature theme, with orchids, tree limbs and small piles of dirt strewn along the way (see full gallery). As models showcased solid pieces from the earthy collection (the cable-knit skirts and leggings were super cute), three tonal singers in the background emitted primal sounds, sometimes evoking a gentle breeze.

A lampshade-looking dress and shirt, on separate girls, echoed the antique-y ones hanging from a wire overhead the catwalk. Kooky tops and slippers made from what appeared to be bathing cap materials, while improbable fashion choices on most occasions, seemed like a perfect fit for the gray, drizzly Tokyo day.
