The inspiration for Max Mara’s Fall/Winter 2015 presentation was Marilyn Monroe. If this sounds a bit trite as far as fashion themes go, fear not: the iconic, sex-kitten Marilyn was nowhere in sight. Instead, this was Marilyn off-duty, wrapped in warm sweaters, or curled up with a book. The silhouette stayed true to the 1950s: calf-grazing pencil skirts paired with neat sweaters and tasseled loafers, all in cool, icy hues. In a nod to the famous blonde starlet, model Gigi Hadid clutched a soft camel coat wrapped around her like a blanket: the runway moment proved Marilyn’s classic, laid-back glamour is still decidedly modern.
