Fung Wah Heads to Rhode Island

imageThe venerable Chinatown bus, Fung Wah, is now providing service to Providence RI. They are the first major bus service to offer this route from New York City to Rhode Island, just in time for warm-weather events there. The schedule is fairly limited at this point, with service running twice daily from New York to Providence, at 4:15pm and 6:15pm; and twice daily from Providence to NYC, at 7am and 9am. The trip is estimated at a cool three hours, but buyer beware: traffic may require you to sit your ass in your seat for an extra hour or more beyond the three-hour mark.

Service starts June 15 at $40 each way. Just as a reference, Amtrak tickets at their lowest are $54 each way. In case you need another reason beyond new bus service to visit Providence, go check out Water Fire, the annual summer art installation that showcases about 100 mini-bonfires that blaze just above the surface of the three rivers passing through the downtown Providence area. Thanks for the tip, BusJunction.
