Fashionistas Buzzing Over ‘Black Swan’

While film critics rave over Black Swan’s cinematic quality, fashion lovers are swooning over the stunning wardrobe created by Rodarte’s designer sisters, Laura and Kate Mulleavy. They also happen to be good friends with the star of the film, Natalie Portman. Rodarte’s darker “Frankenstein”-inspired designs were exactly what the film needed. Natalie introduced the sisters to director Darren Aronofsky, who subsequently asked them to do costume design for the film—and the rest is cinematic history. Kate and Laura designed about 40 costumes for the thriller, including all the knitwear pieces and leotards. Could the Mulleavys be contenders for an Oscar for costume design?

Possibly. While we’re waiting for that, rock another round of wearable versions of Black Swan.
