Vinegar Hill House

Editorial Review

Our favorite lost Brooklyn nabe finally gets its own destination dining. Screen-door chic from ex-Freemans pair. Worn wood floors, distressed walls, reclaimed copper bar outfit Dumbo's own country house. Definite echoes of that Old Weird America. Chef Brian Leth makes the commute from carriage house in back to serve NoCal-styled Greenmarket grub, much of it roasted up in the wood-burning oven. Inventive combos like steelhead trout with roasted and pickled beets, Long Island duck breast with turnip and hon-shemeji (mushrooms found in Asia). Affordable, sustainable, extremely likeable.
