Uniqlo

Editorial Review

You've seen their cashmere sweaters, you've seen the prices, and chances are, if you've been, you've probably purchased one. NYC Soho store was once the American flagship of the Japanese-based brand (new flagship is in Midtown). Three-story haven where design freaks, fashionistas, and Tokyophiles meet in the middle. Free on-site altering for those jeans that're an inch too long; sometimes sold out of the particular shirt you're looking for, but since they have it in forty other colors, you're going to grab it. Gets tourist-slammed on the weekends; make sure to hit it at an off-hour to get the (otherwise harried) customer service attention you require.
