The Optimist

Editorial Review

Upscale fish spot from chef Ford Fry raises the oyster to an art form. Start with selections from the raw bar, like east- or west-coast oysters and chilled lobster tails on ice (we'd be hitting the beers or martinis at this point). Hearty she-crab soup with shrimp toast is the ultimate hot starter, followed by mains like Florida grouper, Alaska halibut, and skate wing schnitzel. (There's skirt steak and heritage pork for the landlubbers.) Interior is light, simple, and comfy. Take a seat at the oval bar if you're just popping in for a quick one, but be warned, you'll want to linger.
