Hard times trigger a retreat to Americana, and what could be more all-American and comforting than a crispy grilled cheese sandwich, served here with an SF foodie twist? Small, café-like space has clean, contemporary lines, adorned with 1950s kitchenette bric-a-brac and populated with bespectacled copy writers and assistant creative directors from area ad agencies. All sandwiches are made on house made bread - we love the formidable Mousetrap with Tillamook aged white cheddar, havarti, monterey jack and tomato, and the incredible Mushroom Gruyere with fontina, roasted wild mushrooms, gold potatoes, leeks, thyme and butter.
With just 18 seats (plus 12 bar seats), exposed brick, unglazed walnut tables, and an unobstructed vision of the exalted kitchen, it's feels a bit like you're attending a big dinner party. Wit... read more
