As far as the Napa Valley goes, Solage resort, scattered across 22-acres of valley floor, feels pretty remote. Located in the northern pinch of the valley, near the former outpost town of Calistoga -- once famous for its mineral waters -- the resort is designed more for those interested in mud baths, bocce, lounging around the pool in Trina Turk cover-ups, and exploring the property on complimentary cruisers than those with a 20-winery-a-day tasting agenda and an affinity for Thomas Keller’s overpriced pastries. Which is not to say that you won’t get your share of Michelin-rated cuisine. The SolBar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the impressive patio offers expansive views of the surrounding mountain ranges during the day and a relaxed, loungy vibe complete with open fires, specialty cocktails and a tapas-style menu at night.
