When the Double Down is too crowded and the Hard Rock too LA, local bohemians head for the Motor City Cafe. Previously the cheerfully sleazy New York Bar, it's pretty much the same, just clean and with better TVs and more comfortable stools. Kitchen in the back dishes out subs and pizzas to soak up the low-priced booze; local bands of widely divergent quality play most weeknights.
