San Francisco’s famed hole-in-the-wall expands to the LES. Swankier than the original, but still cozy like a dive. Funky orange chintz, wooden chairs hang from the ceiling; kitschy bathrooms have Twin Peaks character portraits. Prices are awesome. Emphasis on slow-cooked meats: kung pao corned beef, smoked beef brisket soup noodles, thrice-cooked bacon with Korean rice cakes. Guilt-free gorging, as a portion of sales are donated to the Food Bank for New York City.
