Chef served stints at Barrio Chino and Mercadito, and this East Williamsburg haute Mexican spot shoots for similar effects. Authentic cooking (not that goopy stuff) recalling hometown Coyoacán in the south of the DF. Organic ingredients, elegant preparations, awesome signatures like poblanos stuffed with pork, fruit, and almonds, and covered in walnut sauce and pomegranate. Solid beer, tequila, and mezcal list, plus hot ‘tails like the Jamaica margarita with orange liquor and hibiscus. Space crowds up fast, make new friends at a communal table under flattering exposed-bulb light.
