NYU grad Carissa Ackerman started making refurbished clothing in her dorm room before relocating to a studio in Williamsburg. The duds—all partially or completely made from vintage materials—are designed, sewn, and sold in the studio (which functions as both workspace and store). Homemade shirts, skirts, and suits made to highlight everything charming about females. Think polka dots, jumpsuits, lots of lace and ribbon. Dress like a rock star or a runaway princess with clothes that feel fun, fresh, and carefree.
