New York » Bar » Downtown Manhattan » Lounge
The nightlife experts at the Gerber Group have been tapped to sexify the former Underbar at the W New York - Union Square hotel, and the result is a sleek lounge that marries uptown class with downtown cool. Lilium's subterranean space was designed by Gulla Jonsdottir of G+ Design (who also designed LA's Red O, among others) and is said to evoke "a cave of wild lilies" with a twisted metal ceiling, steel flowers by artist Scot Brown, contoured wood, and gold accents. Nightly DJ's aim to keep alive the rock 'n' roll vibe of the original Whiskey bar at the Paramount Hotel, while bartenders will turn out classic cocktails and small batch spirits. Small plates from chef Todd English, of the hotel's Olive's restaurant, will keep partiers fueled for refined debauchery late into the evening.
