The dictionary definition of a Brooklyn local, this beer-and-burgers joint is average in a good way. Bend an elbow at the appropriately dark bar, slide into a cool vinyl booth, take a table in the main room—open to the street on warm days— or sit outdoors and watch all of Park Slope stroll by. The menu has a few upscale offerings, but most locals would tell you to keep it simple. One exception: the martinis are grand, and come in their own mini-shakers.
