JJ Bean

Editorial Review

Almost 15 years (and shareholders) later, this hyperlocal coffee company and bakery is still an indie fave, with even the artwork on their cups inspired by their locations which dot the city's most bean-obsessed neighborhoods, most recently in the courtyard of the talismanic Woodward's complex. Believers in the "best cup wins" philosophy, they're so strong on customer service that offerings are seasonal (coffee is a fruit, after all), bags show the roast date and accurate blend percentages, and they insist on sustainable processes from harvester to roastery to packaging and sales.
