House of Shields

Editorial Review

Think Baby Face Nelson caressing his platinum-haired moll with the butt of his machine gun. Established in 1908, only watering hole around for years, and a gentleman’s-only club till 1972. Prohibition era speakeasy accessed by secret tunnel from Palace Hotel across the street. Kinda cool since it reinvented itself as an apre-Fi-Di-happy-hour late-night hang with eclectic little parties ranging from hip-hop to house to jazz.
