Don’t judge Doraku by its exterior. Looks like a hot drink spot with glowing floors, a bumping DJ booth and dim mood lighting, but the place serves some seriously good Japanese, and the model (literally) servers certainly don’t detract from the experience. For a quick bite, grab a table up front and pair to-die-for appetizers like “Double Happiness”—a roll topped with Maine lobster, sweet shrimp, scallops, tuna and salmon—with a stiff cocktail. If you take sushi more seriously, opt for one of the oversized booths closer to the sushi bar in the back and get at least one of the 18 specialty rolls. The giant hand-picked-in-Japan sake selection is no joke, either.
