Sensible and unpretentious, the Bourbon Orleans is the luxury hotel for those who feel the top of the line places get a bit too over the top, even though the lobby is filled with velvet couches and a grand piano. The rooms are perfectly adequate - particularly in a town famed for small hotel quarters - with plain white comforters over heavenly matresses. Most rooms even have the french-style balconies that are one of NOLA's signatures. Its best quality might be the location, which is near enough to the French Quarter's action, but far enough so the accompanying noise won't keep weary travelers awake. But then again, some people like falling asleep to the sounds of people vomiting in the gutter.
