Betel

Editorial Review

Aussie Adam Woodfield drops sleek Thai on the West Village. Namesake betel appears with smoked sea trout and rolled chicken apps. Entrées combine pork and tamarind, tofu and wild ginger, Wagyu beef and cilantro. Cocktails get just as creative, classics taken on Southeast Asian spins. Intimate space is decked in brick and wood, with silk pouch lanterns as Pacific accents. Reservations taken for the early shift only, so brace for some heel-cooling.
