In an ideal world, we’d get a new outstanding brunch spot every few months. In reality, they’re few and far between, making places like Lakeview’s 2 Sparrows a particularly notable addition to Chicago’s dining scene. Run by good friends and Trotter veterans Gregory Ellis and Steven Fladung, the intimate spot does trendy (shrimp and grits, maple and bacon doughnuts) alongside staples (eggs benedict, market quiche and granola). Meat-eaters can line up for biscuits and gravy, foie gras pop tarts and lunch options like Cuban and corned beef sandwiches paired perfectly with a side of tater tots. Feel the local love with the drink menu—Half Acre beer, Templeton Rye and North Shore vodka cocktails and locally blown glass fixtures and art decor.
